Care For Birds and Some Methods We Use

The following information gives a brief outline view of how we care for birds, our practices, methods and techniques involved.

Each year we deal with many different Falcons, Owls and other Bird of prey Bird of prey species through 24 hour rescue and rehabilitation, and our trained captive bred birds we use , in our care sector activities, helping people with many different life skills problems such as dementia, work undertaken on a voluntary basis.

Accommodation For Birds and Diets

We do not have multi million pound aviaries or centres as our example shows opposite, with high  bio security controlled individual unit accommodation, both outside and inside isolation units for wild birds, with wild birds having limited human contact.

Our care activity birds are dealt with differently, living close to each other, with their aviaries being their homes, untethered and  free to roam, happy and content, as our birds are our friends.

As in our images opposite, there is no galvanised mesh or wires, slatted wood, specially designed for multi purpose use, slatted strips and flexi plastic mesh, so birds are safe and secure, it is our firm belief that  galvanised meshes of all kind contain poison coatings, so can cause problems.

We refurbish each year to keep aviaries and equipment in good order, and to suit each birds and their mind set, our care home birds like to have a good lifestyle, so , we give them a good life.

Care Home and Wild Bird Diets

Like us humans, with a healthy varied diets is the only way, with our care home birds, being  fed the very best quality.

As as with wild rescue birds, diets are slightly different, including recovery treatments that plav a major part of their progress.

Poisoned, Shot and Serious Injury.

We have dealt with countless situations relating many different species with broken bones, Owls are very different due to bone structure's and have always consulted vet in this areas.

With poisoned birds we have developed formulas and method . as for shot birds, depending on the seriousness we have developed techniques, as for birds with serious beak injury we have applied techniques  such as beak repairing, prosthetics and more.

Happy Care Sector Activity Birds

We take captive bred birds such as Falcons, Owls and other birds of prey and  training them over long set periods of time, with each being trained for all kinds of care sector scenarios, making  each bird happy and contented in life, this is important to our birds frame of mind because, no matter how old or how young.

It can often be assumed because a bird of prey hunts and kills then it is vicious, in truth, and many long years of experience dealing with many different birds,  these birds are vicious only at the point of killing.

Some Methods and Techniques

Bumble Foot

It is often forgotten that wild birds can suffer from bumble foot, be it captive bred or wild,  this  is devastating to any Owl or Bird of prey, because  it is a  devastating and often a horrendous problem.

So, having dealt with this problem many times over the years, we have devised  formulas, methods and equipment, specially designed perching places and more.

Aggressive and bad mannered

Some people may think bad tempered and vicious Birds of prey make the best hunting birds, however, we believe  bad tempered birds are just bored, un happy or have  other problems, as over the years we have dealt with many.

We know for certain Falcons, Owls an other Birds of prey crave attention and trust in their handers, so we have developed some unusual methods to turn bad tempered birds, in to well balanced ones, starting from dietary technique and working on from there..

Food Imprinting

This often leads to  distressing situations and we believe is psychological problems for any bird, as many people know, the cause is  related to feeding more times than not, on the other hand other, forms of imprinting are good and or prefered by owners. We have taken steps to solve these problems using, donor birds and imitating solutions.
